About me
I’m Naser, a researcher in bioinformatics and molecular biology, currently finishing up my PhD at the Université de Sherbrooke, affiliated with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC).
My work sits right at the intersection of molecular biology and computational sciences. I’m drawn to problems that span the entire research cycle: from designing and running wet-lab experiments, to developing data processing tools, and finally uncovering patterns that aren’t obvious at first glance. Over the years, I’ve worked on environmental genomics, viromics, and microbiome analysis, building tools along the way that I hope make these fields more accessible to other researchers.
Driven by the belief that analyses should be reproducible and complex data interpretable, I developed MetaViralyst; a comprehensive analytical ecosystem featuring an interactive web app for exploring virome and microbiome data.
For fun, I love reading about molecular evolution or cognitive sciences, and of course, I really enjoy cycling and rewatching classic movies!
Here, you can follow my journey in bioinformatics and molecular biology. Every now and then, I post my thoughts on research, cool tools, and things I’m learning along the way.
